Open Field

The open course will be set on a field that is actually made up of two adjacent fields totaling more than 80 acres.  These irrigated fields of Orchard Grass are used for three cuttings of haylage during the spring and summer months and pasture during the fall.  The field slopes up slightly from the post to the setout with a few rolls that will wreak havoc if you find yourself off line on the fetch.  There will be room for a 525 yard open outrun, 450 yards on the second leg of the double lift.

Driving Directions

104 NE 252nd Ave.
Camas, WA 98607

From Seattle
Traveling South on I-5 take the I-205 exit.  Take exit 27 (Camas Exit) off I-205 and travel East about 6 miles on Hwy 14 to Camas Exit 12.  The exit ramp leads you right into NW 6th Ave.  Follow this about a mile into Camas.  Go straight through the Stop at Adams St. (note there is a free right turn at this intersection – don’t take it).  Stay on NW 6th Ave.  Go straight through the stop at Dallas St.  When you reach the Stop at Garfield Street turn LEFT.  This road is also named SR-500 West.  This road will lead you up a hill and through a “dog-leg” left turn before you come to another Stop at Everett Street.  Turn RIGHT on Everett and follow the SR-500 West signs about 2.5 miles until you reach a 20 MPH corner.  At this point turn LEFT off of SR-500 onto NE 3rd Street.  Travel another quarter mile and you will see a Dead End sign on the corner.  Keep going straight to the Dead End.  Don’t make the turn onto NE 257th Ave.  NE 3rd St. Dead Ends and the Dairy is at the end.

From Salem
Traveling North on I-5 take the I-205 exit.

From Pendleton
Traveling West on I-84 take Exit 44 at Cascade Locks (about 166 miles).  Drive into the town of Cascade Locks and cross over the Columbia River on The Bridge of The Gods (toll bridge).  Immediately after crossing the bridge turn left on HWY 14 heading WEST.  You will travel on HWY 14 for about 26 miles toward Camas while witnessing some of the most beautiful scenery in the northwest.  As you approach the City of Washougal and then Camas you will pass through a series of three stop lights.  Turn RIGHT at the third light which is marked “Union Street / SR-500 West”.  Follow SR-500 into and through Camas.  This will include a right turn at Burgerville and a left turn at Safeway; all clearly marked “SR-500 West”.  After the turn at Safeway, SR-500 will lead you up a hill and through a “dog-leg” left turn before you come to a stop at Everett Street.

Pro Novice Field

The Pro Novice and Novice classes will run on a separate field  that is about 25 acres in size with room for a 200 yard outrun.  This field, with a mix of Orchard Grass and Canary Grass, is considered rough pasture land and is used for pasturing heifers during the summer months.  The field slopes up slightly from the post to the setout and is bordered on the east side by a rise that creates a natural separation from the open field.
